Students learn leadership skills and provide a student's perspective to help in making decisions. Officers and room representatives are from grades 4-6. School elections are usually held in October.
The Safety Patrol Program promotes the safe crossing of elementary students to and from school and provides classroom education to maximize student safety at all times. Coordinated by the San Diego Police Department's Juvenile Services Division, Juvenile Services Team Officers along with site teacher coordinator select, train, and supervise fifth- and sixth-grade students to help children and adults cross safely at key intersections. Participating students learn the value of responsibility and are rewarded for their work through promotions or weekend activities. A teacher serves as on-site coordinator. Learn more
