School and district policies require homework and outside reading on a regular basis. Each teacher has a homework policy for his/her classroom that meets these requirements. Your child will bring home a copy of the policy for his or her classroom during the first few weeks of school.
The Muir Difference
All Muir students learn AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) techniques. AVID is a nationally recognized program teaching organization, questioning, and learning skills so that students are prepared for post-secondary education. Muir Students progress through a continuously more rigorous and supportive program as they promote.
At the elementary level, Muir students benefit from small classes, a full time librarian, inquiry based science, three years of music education, physical education instruction, and a separate lunch and play area.
At the middle level, in addition to our rigorous standards driven curriculum, students have additional counseling support. Advanced students can take higher-level courses that would not necessarily be available on traditional middle school campuses.
At the high school level, both French and Spanish are offered. A "four by four" schedule allows students to focus on fewer classes at a time, but accumulate additional credits. Students have access to college level courses at Mesa College, Advanced Placement courses, and University of California College Prep (UCCP) online courses.
