Students learn leadership skills and provide a student's perspective to help in making decisions. Student Council is an elected body - students choose to run in the election, campaign through posters and speeches, and are voted in to office. Teachers, Danielle Pickett and Brian Pike, share joint responsibility for the supervision of Student Council. They meet weekly to plan Spirit Days, maintain the Student Store and activities that promote International Mindedness. This year they are coordinating a fantastic yearbook for our student body!
The Safety Patrol Program promotes the safe crossing of elementary students to and from school and provides classroom education to maximize student safety at all times. Coordinated by the San Diego Police Department's Juvenile Services Division, Juvenile Services Team Officers select, train, and supervise fifth grade students to help children and adults cross safely at key intersections. Participating students learn the value of responsibility and are rewarded for their work through promotions or weekend activities. Learn more
As part of service to the school, all fifth graders participate in the Peace Manager Program. Students are trained in problem resolution and help monitor primary students games and activities at recess.
