Lessons of wisdom have the most power over us when they capture the heart through the groundwork of a story, which engages the passions.

Running Club
The Cubberley Cougars Running Club encourages students, teachers, parents and siblings to run every morning before school. Our track is 1/4 mile long. It takes 4 laps to make a mile. Each runner has a "Running Card" which is signed off after each lap. Awards are presented at various running levels.
Eco-Team
The Eco-Team provides activities and education to our students, parents, and community members about the importance of recycling and keeping our environment clean. For additional information about the Eco-Team or what you can do to help save our environment, please contact Molly Williams (mwilliams9@sandi.net), Eco-Team advisor.
Exploratory Instrumental Music Program
The Exploratory Instrumental Music Program is taught once a week to every fifth grade student, and introduces students to basic musical concepts such as music notation, pitch and rhythmic concepts, and music appreciation. Students are also introduced to the four major instrumental family groups (Woodwinds, Brass, Strings, and Percussion) by having the hands-on opportunity to learn several musical instruments from these different families. All of the musical instruments needed for this class are provided by the school District. You do not need to obtain and instrument for your child.
Music is part of each and every one of our everyday lives. Music gives us beauty. It gives us enjoyment. It expresses our personalities to others. Music is something tangible, that we can actually feel with our senses; yet at the same time, it is something that is intangible, that we can only comprehend with our imaginations. Most importantly of all, yet often over-looked, music gives us and outlet for our creativity and emotions. It provides a foundation from which we can apply all of our learned knowledge from each of the many different subject areas to create new ideas, and to grow as individuals. Studies continue to show that on a whole, students who study music do better in school and score higher on standardized tests than those who do not. Music is necessary and inescapable to all of our lives.
