Opened in 1997, César Chávez Elementary School is named after farmworker labor leader César Chávez who organized the United Farm Workers UFW union in 1965. The UFW helped farmworkers get better pay and better working conditions. He helped protect farm workers and consumers from pesticides on food by increasing public awareness of the effect of toxic pesticides on consumers and farm workers.
The mission of César Chávez Elementary is to create a learning community that empowers every child with the knowledge , skills and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world. Our César Chávez Learning Community will strive to achieve this by creating an effective educational collaboration between all members of our learning community e.g. students, parents, teachers, administration, staff and the local community.
