Daniel Boone Elementary School is a K–5 school with a multiethnic population. Theschool was built in the early 1960s and has fully completed remodeling funded by Proposition MM. The staff and community has recently completed a schoolwide campus beautification project which has greatly enhanced the appearance of the school. Boone is on a single-track, year-round schedule. It serves the regular neighborhood school population and offers two Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) programs: a cluster and seminar program. The school also offers three special education classes: two non-severe special day classes and one Progressive Alternative Curriculum Environment (PACE) class. Daniel Boone also provides lsubstantially lower class sizes than the district average for grades 4 and 5. At Daniel Boone, we believe all children can learn; therefore, we strive to promote a positive learning environment that empowers students to become independent and critical thinkers. Students at Boone receive a rich, well-rounded curriculum that includes balanced literacy, mathematics, science, arts, music, and physical education programs. Eighty percent of Boone families receive Aid to Families with Dependent Children. About 30 percent of our students are from military families.
